The WRLA hosts and supports a variety of networking events throughout the year. Events include the annual WRLA Buying Show, the WRLA Golf Tournaments, NexGEN student activities, and many more! WRLA understands that business is built upon the strength of relationships and we are here to help our valued members connect to each other in meaningful ways. Each event provides a unique opportunity for you to connect with your customers and vendors.
All the services and activities in which the WRLA facilitate are for our paid, current WRLA Members only. Therefore, a company must be approved for WRLA Membership and in good standing to access our annual show and attend other events throughout the membership year.
It’s the place to do business. This is the WRLA’s annual convention that facilitates business development for the LBM industry. The WRLA hosts the WRLA Buying Show where suppliers, service providers, and retailers gather in the same room and millions of dollars of business is conducted. It is the biggest event of the WRLA calendar bringing together thousands of industry professionals.
This annual convention takes place in January – making it the first buying show of the year. Mark your calendar for 2020: January 22, 23, and 24.
There are plenty of business development opportunities during the course of the show, including an Awards Night event (open to all registered attendees), education sessions, speakers, live product demonstrations, lunches, breakout areas with tables, and more.
Retailers can see new products, get a head start on the year's buying, and meet with vendors face-to-face. Associates and Affiliates have many opportunities to develop business and develop customer relationships.
The WRLA will host two golf tournaments in 2019. Thursday, August 8th at The Willows Golf Course in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and August 21st at the St. Boniface Golf Course in Winnipeg, Manitoba
Events in support of the WRLA Education Grants: the below golf tournaments are run by WRLA members and proceeds raised by each of these events also go to the WRLA Education Grants program.

This allows jobs to be viewed nationally and gain a larger viewership - and thus a larger employee pool. Similarly, it allows those looking for a career to view all the jobs available across Western Canada.

Education Grants are monies distributed to students either within the LBM industry, children of WRLA Members who are pursuing studies, or students enrolled in the WRLA Fundamentals of the Lumber and Building Supply Industry Certificate. The WRLA Memorial Golf Tournament raises the funds that are distributed to students. There are two member-run Golf Tournaments that also contribute funds towards the Education Grants.
